Overview: A Permanent Home
Size: 23.2 cm x 15.24 cm
Medium: Hand carved linoleum plate with black water based ink
Date of completion: September 2022
Exhibition Text:
My print was made using linoleum and carvers, a new technique and medium for me. My piece has the theme that no matter what happens in life your home will always be there. I created this piece because I know many people have things happening in their life but the one constant is home. Home is comfort for myself and others. The chain on the home shows that the home is staying. I used the works of Thomas Berger Johnson as an inspiration because he often features homes and nature in his works.

Overview: Forever with me
Size: 60.96 cm x 91.44 cm
Medium: Photopea
Date of completion: October 2022
Exhibition Text:
My digital collage is about how I lost three family members in the span of five years. I am showing how even though they are no longer here, I will always hold onto the memories. The images in the collage were taken by me and family members, making this piece very personal to me. My piece was inspired by the works of Edwards Mason Eggleston, a painter. I was inspired by how the stance of the subject shows emotion. I used this in my piece to show desperation and emotion.

Overview: Emotions of one
Size: 60.96cm x 60.96cm
Medium: Acrylic Paint
Date of Completion: November 2022
Exhibition text:
This painting is inspired by Andy Warhol. Each quadrant of the painting represents a different emotion that someone feels. The emotions represented are happy, numb, sadness, and anger. I purposefully did not include faces because I wanted it to represent anybody, not just one specific person, so it is relatable to everyone. Since this piece is supposed to be a perception of identity, I thought that emotions are a strong part of someone’s identity and how they are perceived by people.

A camera is used to capture those memories so that they can always be remembered and we can forever cherish those memories. The specific camera that was recreated has captured many memories with my family and many important moments of my sister and I. We love to look back at these old photos and reminisce about them.

Overview: Outdoor Classroom
Size: 60.96 cm x 91.44 cm
Medium: Hand drawn and digital sketches mounted onto foam core
Date of Completion: April 2023
Exhibition Text:
The objective of this outdoor classroom is to create a solution to the current problem that students face: a lack of comfort and classrooms that don't function well in their learning. Using Frank Lloyd Wright as an inspiration and techniques learned from Murph and Thornton, I was able to use pencil and digital sketches to include on a poster to compile all of my ideas. I wanted to create a solution that is both functional, comfortable, and visually appealing.

My City is an acrylic painting that was inspired by Vincent Van Gogh and Camille Pissarro. It represents the city that I have called home my whole life and the things I love most about it. In Milwaukee I love to be able to see the skyline from afar. The way that I represented my city is the iconic skyline and the beautiful sunsets I see. Overall, this connects back to the themes of lifestyle and identity that I have explored in the past because this piece is personal to my life.

Overview: Light to Dark
Size: 60.96 cm x 60.96 cm
Medium: Acrylic paint
Date of Completion: October 2023
Exhibition Text:
Light to Dark is a diptych created to show the progression of how we view life as we get older. Inspired by pieces by Thomas Cole, this piece explores how when we are young we think life is perfect, but as we get older we realize life is not. I often think of the saying that life is not all “sunshines and rainbows'”. The obvious contrast between the two sides shows the two outlooks on life and how they are very much different. It goes from “sunshines and rainbows” to cloudy.
